The Perfect Hand

I once drew a perfect hand, but it was in the wrong place for the drawing. I then destroyed the soul of the drawing by trying to warp the whole to fit the perfect hand.

I wish this was only an artist’s failing, but the syndrome echoes in many fields. Not only is it about creating the wrong wonderful thing, but trying to keep an idea that worked in one situation and applying it to a new situation that is not quite the same. An idea that is truly brilliant but wrong for the situation can destroy any project.
