Shadows in the Mind

When evening comes and light has flown
And shadows grow and spread and dance
Know that you are not alone.

The mind invents and fears have grown
And shadows lurk in every glance
When evening comes and light has flown

You fear to reap what you have sown
When shadows weave their subtle trance
And No!  You are not alone.

Behind each tree and standing stone
The shadows shift with every glance
When evening comes and light has flown

The rising moon a one eyed crone
The shadows get another chance
But No!  You are not alone.

But with belief of family known
the mind can join another dance
When evening comes and light has flown
know that you are not alone.

Note:
This was inspired by a friend's description of walking home after dark, as a young child, with her imagination running wild, and her relief when seeing her home.
